WWS & WWA | February 12th - 18th

This week was a great one for stocking up on seafood & bacon thanks to some store sales and store app coupons! Two of the three grocery stores in my area have store loyalty programs that offer personalized coupons that you can "clip" via their phone app. I know that they use these programs to mine data on spending habits, but I do benefit by getting coupons geared towards the items I buy, plus accumulate cash back/rewards, so I consider it a pretty even trade.

Many of these coupons are available to all app users (weekly free item, special sale prices), so it is easy for most users to take advantage without spending the time to physically clip coupons. Unfortunately, I do sometimes have issues with the Shaw's app, it can be glitchy and not all coupons come off when they should, customer service is typically pretty good about correcting these issues though. The same applies for their "buy 5 or more of a particular selection of items" sales, which tripped me up a bit this week. Overall though I appreciate the coupons offered by these apps, as they aren't typically ones you would find in the national circular or coupons.com.

What We Ate

Planned & Prepped - Did it Go as Planned?

I'm happy to report that we stuck pretty close to our meal plan this week (which really ends on Friday). I was feeling a bit under the weather this week, and having a meal plan meant I didn't have to think about what was for dinner.

The past few weeks I've been using one of the days I work from home to make a crockpot meal for Ben's lunches. This has worked out quite well so far as they require minimal prep and give me a nice fifteen minute break from the work-grind to put together.

While I don't typically specify who eats what for lunches, Ben and I typically eat very different lunches, as I am a bit pickier about the foods I like. I uses lunches as an opportunity to provide him with a more varied diet, and I get the bonus of  getting to cook (and sometimes try) foods I wouldn't normally make for myself.
