WWS & WWA | January 15th - 21st

This week really hit the meal planning groove by sticking close to plan and incorporating lots of fresh vegetables to compliment the items chosen from the freezer challenge list.

Food spend consisted primarily of fresh ingredients on sale this week. This is a more typical spend week for us when not stocking up on pantry or freezer items. We are pretty close to our budget for the month, but I don't see much coming up in next week's sales flyer that is very tempting sales-wise, so I think we will probably come in right on budget!

What We Ate

Planned & Prepped - Did it Go as Planned?

For the most part - yes! Having a plan really makes it easier to have varied, healthy meals w/ little food waste.

Our microwave decided that it wanted to start arching on Monday, so we had to make a few small adjustments that ensured that any prepped or leftover food was easy to re-heat on the stovetop or oven.

To avoid eating the same thing every day, we mix and match prepped items, and try to not make more than three servings of a completed dish per person.

Additional Dishes to Fill in the Gaps

Here is what we added throughout the week to fill in the lunch and dinner gaps.
  • No additional meals were needed this week - aside from the frozen pizza, which was more because we were both tired from a long weekend of work and needed to press the "easy" button.
How did your meal prep and planning go this week?
